Who we are

MoveableIQ is a weekly attendance-review tool for school districts. This website is its public, informational home. “We” and “us” refer to the team behind MoveableIQ. This policy covers both this website and the text messages districts send to families through the MoveableIQ application.

What this website collects

This is a static informational website. It does not use tracking or advertising cookies, does not run analytics, and does not ask you to create an account. We collect nothing as you browse.

The contact form does not transmit anything to us on its own. When you submit it, your own email application opens with a pre-filled message that you choose whether to send. If you send it, we receive the name, email address, phone number (if provided), and message you included (the same as any email you send us) and we use that information only to respond to your inquiry.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own.

Third-party services

The site loads styling and icon assets (Bootstrap and Bootstrap Icons) from a public content delivery network, jsDelivr. Your browser contacts that network to fetch those files. We do not control it and receive no data from it.

The MoveableIQ product and student data

The MoveableIQ application (which is separate from this website) holds no identifiable student or guardian data at rest. Every field that names a student or a guardian, including name, student ID, home address, and guardian email and phone, is AES-256-GCM ciphertext under a key unique to that district, and that key is not stored in the database. Attendance counts and grade stay readable so the system can compute on them; on their own they identify nobody. The contact log references each student by a keyed hash that cannot be reversed to an identity. Districts evaluating MoveableIQ receive full data-handling documentation as part of that process, and the published technical posture is on the security page.

Text messages sent through MoveableIQ

When a district turns text messaging on, a staff member can send an individual text message to a student’s parent or guardian from that student’s record, about that student’s attendance. Every message is composed and sent by a named staff member, to one family, about one student. Nothing sends a text on a schedule or without a person deciding to send it, there are no marketing texts, and we text nobody who is not the parent or guardian of an enrolled student.

Email works differently, and it is worth being plain about the difference. A district can send the same message to many families at once by email, and the system then delivers it to each recipient individually and personalized to that family. There is no equivalent path for text messages.

Where the phone number comes from

It is the number the family already gave their school district. It reaches MoveableIQ in the district’s weekly student information export and is stored encrypted. We do not buy, rent, or otherwise collect phone numbers. The district’s student information system stays the system of record for a family’s contact details, so a family who wants a number changed or removed should ask the district, and the change reaches us on the next weekly export.

Agreeing to receive messages

A family must agree before any text is sent to them, and agreeing is optional. A phone number arriving in a district’s weekly export is not by itself permission to text it. Consent is requested through a link emailed to the address the district holds for that family, and it applies to the specific mobile number on file. If that number later changes, consent does not carry over to the new number, which may belong to someone else, and the family is asked again. A family who does not agree, or who never answers, is not texted, and their student’s enrollment, attendance record and access to school services do not depend on the answer.

How to stop receiving messages

Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts from that district. Opt-outs are honored automatically by the messaging service that carries them, and MoveableIQ also marks a number that has opted out so that staff are no longer offered texting as a way to reach that family. Reply HELP for help. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

An opt-out is carried out by the messaging service itself, not by MoveableIQ, so it cannot be reversed here. A family who later wants texts again has to text START from the same number. Neither the district nor MoveableIQ can turn them back on on the family's behalf.

Who else sees a message

Messages are transmitted by Twilio on the district’s behalf and are not used by Twilio for its own purposes. MoveableIQ keeps a delivery record of each send in which the destination number and the message body are encrypted at rest; the readable part is limited to the delivery outcome, the reason a message failed, and which staff member sent it. We do not sell student, guardian, or staff data.

Mobile information

Mobile phone numbers and text message consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. A number is used only to send the district’s own attendance messages to the family it belongs to, and is passed only to the carrier that delivers them. Opt-in and opt-out records are never sold, rented, or shared for marketing.

Staff accounts

A district staff member using MoveableIQ has a name, work email, and role assignment on their account, and may add a mobile number to it. A staff member can view, change, or remove their own phone number at any time in their own account settings. It does not require an administrator.

How long we keep things

A district’s attendance history is kept for as long as that district uses MoveableIQ, so that week-over-week and year-over-year comparisons stay possible. Contact records are kept for the life of the system, and deleting one is a soft delete that keeps the row for audit rather than erasing what happened.

The student export a district uploads is held encrypted only while it is being imported, then deleted. A district can also run a retention purge, which permanently removes students whose records have passed the period their state requires, and shows exactly who is eligible before removing anything.

For text messages, the destination number and the message body are encrypted at rest. What stays readable is the delivery outcome, the reason a message failed, and which staff member sent it, because those are what a district needs in order to answer questions about its own outreach.

Security

Every field that identifies a student or a guardian is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, under a key unique to that district and held outside the database. A copy of the database alone yields none of them. The application is served over HTTPS only, staff accounts are email-confirmed and rate-limited, and administrative sign-in requires a second factor.

Our Security page describes all of this in detail, including what is stored and what deliberately is not. It is the fuller answer, and it is kept current rather than summarized here twice.
